Rated 4 out of 5 by dogdad from Conveniently cool/reasonably priced Cools well, phone app is convenient. A bit noisier than I want, but not abnormally loud. I actually bought it to drown out the grinder my neighbor has in their nearby window that was so loud I couldn't sleep. I prefer an open window to AC. My one gripe is that the fan setting does not let in fresh air, its just recirculates room air (unless my unit is defective). Other units I have had always had a port you could open to let fresh outside air in when running fan.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Repairman from Substandard owners manual for good AC The unit itself is fine and we’re happy with it. The amount of time and the need for a flashlight and magnifying glass in order to decipher how to operate it in its various modes is unacceptable. None of the symbols for the individual modes are shown in the manual. It would have been extremely simple to just list them along side of their text descriptions. But no, that ball was dropped. The symbols for the modes on the control panel and to a lesser extent, the indicators on the remotes screen are tiny, too small to be easily discernible, and when the led lights on the control panel are lit that becomes a bit harder since you are staring at a bright light while trying to see a tiny, fine line symbol on a dark background. Pro tip to Danby, lose the dark stripe across the top of the control panel and make the symbols larger. All you’d have to replace would be the graphics sticker that gets attached over the electronics part of the control panel. That’s called low hanging fruit. It would also be useful to inform owners that if they change the settings using the control panel, the ones on the remote will not be synchronized. This is just an idiosyncrasy of the communications method the remote uses, not something that is easily changed, so an advisory statement is all that is needed. The “regular foam seal” included in the otherwise serviceable install kit is undersized so we used the store bought one we used before. Penny wise, reputation foolish. I would also include an advisory in the care and maintenance part of the owners manual to allow the unit to sit for X number of hours after being reinstalled after the winter if the unit was not stored and transported horizontally. This only appears in the installation instructions. The need for this to be done over the lifespan of the unit is important. On the plus side, the double walled side curtains are a nice touch and a good idea as is the adhesive foam seal and other sealing materials. I also very much like the inclusion of a dry mode in the system. That’s a good feature. I will not be using the WIFI feature since I suspect I cannot see how secure the link between it and my router is. If theres no password protection for accessing the unit via the app, then there’s no security and a back door is open to my otherwise robustly locked down router. (haven’t tried, don’t need the feature, I have to be honest about that)

Rated 3 out of 5 by Mandujano from Feature Function? What is the function of the center knob in the vent? I can pull and push it but I don’t know what it’s for and the owner manual does not mention it either. Please assist

Rated 4 out of 5 by D and E from Great little AC Unit This is a great AC unit. It works well and is very quiet. I really like that you can manually make changes on the unit itself without having to use the remote. My only complaint is the remote. Even though it is a nice sized remote and fits well in your hands, the writing is light grey, on a light grey background. This makes it very difficult to read, even with my reading glasses. I have to use a magnifying glass just to use the remote. Do you have another remote available with black writing so there is more contrast?

ISTA-6 packaging refers to the type of packaging used to reduce damage when shipping.
Danby air conditioners are designed to cool a room and not multiple rooms. Any walls or doors will interfere with the air flow.
Danby window air conditioners have a sound rating from 39.5 decibels to 61 decibels. The exact decibel range is determined by the model of the unit and whether it is in fan, cooling or dry mode.
All Danby window air conditioners come complete with all required hardware for installation. Danby provides the installation guide in the manual as well as providing a video on our YouTube channel under the “How To” play list.
No, this is not recommended. Please bring your AC unit indoors during the winter months.
Water is collected during the air conditioning process. This water will drain out of the unit and onto the ground and is why the unit should be installed on a slight downward tilt.
The sizes range from size 6-10 but varies based on model and screw location. Please consult your owner’s manual for more details.
Information pertaining to watts and amps can be found on the rating plate located on the back of the unit.
The styrofoam that is inside the unit acts as insulation. Do not remove it. Only remove loose packaging.
