Danby 12000 BTU Window Air ConditionerDAC120EB3GDB
If you’re looking for an attractive window air conditioner that can cool down an area up to 500 square feet in space then look no further than this popular 12,000 BTU model by Danby. This highly-efficient unit comes with an 11.3 Energy Efficiency Rating (EER) and its Energy Star-compliancy means it won’t cost an arm and leg to run it. The environmentally-friendly R410A refrigerant used makes it an even more impressive appliance as does the clever energy saver switch which cycles the fan on and off when the compressor shuts down. The four-way air direction can be programmed either by the convenient remote control unit or the push-button electronic controls with an easy-to-read LED display feature. This classy unit will keep you comfortable in all conditions as it can be programmed via the variable electronic control for any temperature between 17°C and 30°C (62.6°F and 86°F). Sleeping is never a problem with this smart appliance due to the quiet 60-decibel operation and the sleep mode which prevents the room from dropping too cool at bedtime. You don’t have to be home to make sure the unit is turned off as it can be programmed with the convenient automatic on/off feature to suit your schedule. The air conditioner also provides a 12-month warranty on parts and labour.

Rated 4 out of 5 by CoolnHappy from Very Effective Window AC Unit Two of these 12000 BTU window AC units work marvelously to maintain suitable temperatures in a hot climate in our 1500 sq ft home. We are quite content with the purchase and happily recommend these Danby's units. They each move air very efficiently, which obviously makes some pockets of a room (or rooms) colder than others. I am learning how to prevent being cold because of the airflow without sacrificing the overall temperature of the house, but this is more of a user issue. It can also be difficult to maintain quiet conversation in the same room as the unit, as it is not silent while moving so much air.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Chaity from Danby A/C Unit Pros: digital thermostat saying what temp you want, fairly quiet, easily adjustable fans, easy install, comes with a remote, power saving mode. Cons: can't install in horizontal opening windows, remote must be pointed directly at the unit. Overall, the unit does very well in my family's apartment. We put the unit in our bedroom and a fan in the bedroom doorway to cool the whole apartment (900 square ft). We built a frame for the unit to fit in for installation in our horizontal opening window, which this unit is not capable of. I also like how the unit will turn itself off when the room reaches the desired temperature, so it isn't wasteful. The power saving mode is also helpful too! But this is a great unit and definitely worth the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by native210 from Workhorse This was the third Danby I've bought in the last year and the largest one. I got it at Costco, but only after exhaustive research for a great AC. Danby is well known for quality and even energy star rated, which most ACs are not. I was replacing a 10-year old Frigidaire on it's last legs, but the clincher is I was putting it through a wall. Came out beautifully and it cranks. Global warning makes L.A. summer feel like the surface of the sun, and this Danby cools down my bungalow within about 5-10 minutes. I'm very happy with this AC. It's not too noisy, and it's much more effective than my previous AC. The worst part was getting it into the back of my SUV. It's about ~60+ lbs., and awkwardly large with the weight on the condenser side, so really a job for 2 people, even if I managed it myself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jackie26 from Works great a year later We use this for our mid-sized living room and it works great. The air gets cold fast after turning it on, and we can leave it on all day with the remote thermostat and not have to worry about it running constantly, but still keeping our pets comfortable. We bought it a year ago from Costco and it still works great! I thought I better leave a review since I was looking for them when we first bought the AC.

Rated 5 out of 5 by jodi from this window air conditioner is replacing two G E units which failed in less than one season each .. The Danby AC unit is larger capacity and lower initial cost. G E would not refund my cost on one unit because it went over the one year time period. Of course it did as it is used only in the cooling months and stored again till the next cooling period. great product with a fantastic warranty. i will no longer buy G E products.

Rated 1 out of 5 by DaveL from Poor drain design After a lot use, water gathers at the rear of the unit, there is no drain hole to prevent this. During running there's a trickling water sound while compressor is on, very anoying when it's in your bedroom, it's loud and there's the vibration. I drilled relief holes to help drain but the holes need to be at the very rear of the unit. After more frustration and more sloshing water sounds, I drilled the last hole at the back corner, bad idea, I hit a condenser coil line. Too hot to be without an a/c so I got the same one from Costco, it's been 2 years since I purchased the 1st one and it's exactly the same design. I'm repairing the one I have and returning the new one. See photos. You can see the damage to the condenser cooling fins, (rotting away), from being sat in water all the time. The 1st picture shows the lower pan, which doesn't have any holes for drainage, the hole you see is the last one I drilled.

Rated 5 out of 5 by dacharo from Garage/work shop We placed the window a/c in my two car garage/work shop. In the summer here in Charleston, SC it becomes very hot and humid. With the a/c I can now work in my shop all year long.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sporty Nana from Love the window air conditioner! We love this window air conditioner. It really cools the bonus room over the garage and the hall leading to it. When our upstairs central air conditioning unit went out, this unit kept the entire upstairs comfortable until the central unit was repaired. Great unit for the price!

No, this is not recommended. Please bring your AC unit indoors during the winter months.
We do not recommend using an extension cord.
Water is collected during the air conditioning process. This water will drain out of the unit and onto the ground and is why the unit should be installed on a slight downward tilt.
The sizes range from size 6-10 but varies based on model and screw location. Please consult your owner’s manual for more details.
When selected, this automatically sets the appropriate option for your room based on the ambient temperature. For example, if it is 15°C outside, the unit would flip to fan mode. If it is set to 30°C, the unit would revert back to cooling mode.
Information pertaining to watts and amps can be found on the rating plate located on the back of the unit.
The styrofoam that is inside the unit acts as insulation. Do not remove it. Only remove loose packaging.
Please refer to the energy guide associated with your unit.
