Smart Move.

Mold and mildew can often result from excessive moisture and humidity in the air meaning an efficient portable dehumidifier can be the answer to all your problems. This appealing model fights off the stale, damp air by removing 70 pints (33.0 litres) of water from an area up to approximately 3,800 square feet in size on a daily basis. The modern unit  will also lower the room’s temperature naturally which can help save on air-conditioning costs. And since it’s Energy Star compliant even less power will be needed to create a comfortable atmosphere. You won’t do any damage to the environment either as it runs on ozone-friendly R410A refrigerant. The quiet high and low fan speeds and auto-humidity settings can be conveniently programmed and monitored via the electronic control pad  with LED display. The practical direct-drainage system allows for continuous use while the progressive low-temperature feature makes sure the room never falls below 5°C (41°F).  It’s convenient to relocate from room to room depending on your needs due to the handy built-in rolling castors. The automatic restart feature will turn the appliance back on after a power failure while the convenient automatic-de-icing system will keep the coils from freezing up. When it comes time to clean the filter it can easily be removed, washed, and quickly re-inserted. This graceful dehumidifier also features a 12-month warranty on parts and labour with carry-in service.

Customer Reviews

Danby 70 Dehumidifier is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 39.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dehumidifier We purchased our dehumidifier about a year ago. It worked real well for a while. We then started having issues with it freezing up and spraying water out the vents and returning moister to the air. I am rather disappointed that it did not last longer. I tried cleaning the unit and everything else suggested in our manual with no luck. I am forced to purchase another unit and I will chose another manufacturer this time. Kenny

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Dehumidifier The dehumidifier does well when it operates properly. I noticed a couple of months back that it would not shut off after the humidity went well below the setting. Getting service on a dehumidifier is almost non-existent because the cost of repair is more than a new unit. Manufacturers need to offer three year warranties on these products because the breakdowns are typically just after the warranty expires.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Worked fine while it lasted. Kept our 600 Sq ft basement dry for one season and then would no longer kick on. I bypassed the circuit board (kept the capacitors), both the compressor and fan work great and I use a hose so I don't need shutoff. I now plug it into a humidistat switch. Disappointed that I had to rewire it to get it to work just after the warranty ended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Danby Dehumidifier I have had this dehumidifier for over a year and it really does a great job. The only knock that I've had on this unit is that the fan runs a lot even tho the unit is not pulling out water. But really to understand how dehumidifiers work is that they reall need to pull air thru the unit to see if the condenser needs to kick in. With this unit you will need to clean the filter screen at least 3 times in a season or it will not pull out water.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Satisfied with our humidifier!! :) The humidifier has been working non-stop since we purchased it and it seems to be keeping the humidity level in an appropriate range. The drain tube we use goes directly into the sump pump we have in the basement so I do not have to worry about changing the drip pan. The humidifier also helps with a musty smell that was in the basement prior to the use of the device....although it did not take away all of the smell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from After one year of continued use, except for the dry months of last winter, I have no complaints. The unit preforms will and as advertised. it is easy to control, easy to empty to water bucket and move around. My only concern is the water collected in the water collection drain bucket stains with a buildup that I can't find any way or solution to remove? Wish the company would make some recommendations

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Short Lived Used dehumidifier in basement for one year and it worked fine. Did not use at all for year two as had another dehumidifier that went directly to floor drain. On year 3 discovered Danby would no longer extract water out of the air. I suspect a sealed unit failure (no more freon) as no frost or moisture would appear on coils when running. Compressor very hot when running as well, causing concern.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Rusty Water This is the second Danby dehumidifer I have purchased. Within the first year, the water that collects in the bucket is rusty, apparently because of rusting parts inside the machine from what I can see. The problem is, I can't seem to locate a dehumidifier (from reviews) that does not have a problem. They seem to manufacture them to last, at best, a couple of years.

There are a couple of reasons this could be occurring. 1) There may not be enough humidity in your environment or 2) Your relative humidity set higher than ambient humidity. Please adjust your settings accordingly if this is the case.
We recommend setting your dehumidifier to between 40-50%.
Information pertaining to watts and amps can be found on the rating plate located on the back of the unit.
It is supposed to be there to help determine the water level.
This varies based on model, however most models have been manufactured to have the fan turn off automatically.
This varies based on model. With some models you simply screw the hose onto the outlet on the back of the unit. With other models you have to remove the bucket, feed the hose through the back of the unit and connect to the adaptor above the bucket area, then replace the bucket. It is important to look at your control panel. Some units have a “continuous drain” button on the control panel. If that is the case for your unit, you must press this button after the hose is in place or the function will not work. Please refer to your owner’s manual.
This varies by model, however all dehumidifiers are a one shot timer. Please refer to the owner’s manual for timer instruction.
This will vary based on humidity level. It will pump out the water when it reaches a certain level (pump models only).
