Customer Reviews

Danby 45 Pint Dehumidifier is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 87.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Worked fine for about 8 months. I liked the features of the dehumidifier; it was quiet, it had a drain hose, and it turned itself back on after a power outage, which we have a lot where I live. I went into the room, and it was humming. I shut off the power and looked into the top vents and could see a huge gap in the squirrel cage blower. Apparently, it threw off part of the blower, which is plastic. Then it probably shut off, and when it tried to restart, the blower was bottom heavy, so it burned up the motor. Menard's didn't have any more in stock, so I had to buy another brand. The nearest repair center is about 100 miles away.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does a good job. This has been a good dehumidifier so far, have had it about a year. It does a good job in a 900 sq. ft. basement. The only thing I found out after it had been in use for a while, was the fan never shuts off. Even if the compressor is not running and has reached the desired humidity setting, the fan never takes a break. I'm not real pleased with that. My old whirlpool shut off and on (both fan and compressor) according to the desired setting. I will have to say that it never freezes up, like my old Whirlpool did.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hard working Dehumidifier This dehumidifier has made a HUGE difference in my basement moisture level. The filter is easy to clean. I tend to use the drainage hose and run it continuously during the Midwest summer months. The only glitch is that when I program it to a specific humidity and use the drainage hose it runs continuously even if the humidity level has dropped lower than the programmed level. Overall, it's a very dependable machine that gets the job done well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great demidifier I am using this for one room in the basement that humid in the summer. It's perfect for this room. Very easy to use. The settings are simple. It does everything it's supposed to do. I like the option of the tubbing provided so it can continuously drain. I only wish I had a drain in this room so I wouldn't have to empty it every day. The reservoir is easy to remove and it has a convenient handle. I merely take the full reservoir and empty it into the shower that's in the next room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Danby 45 pint DDR45A3GDB dehumidifier Is working GREAT! Had it for one year and is doing its job! We use it in basement in family area and switch to adjacent laundry room as needed. It is super QUIET. Our last dehumidifier sounded like a jet engine so this is an added perk. The bucket is easy to get at not too heavy to empty out. Being a very wet Wisconsin this year is making it do what it intended-remove moisture and doing it quite well. We have NO musty basement odor now. Worth the investment .

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice performing dehumidifier! Dehumidfiers seem to, in general have quality and longevity issues. this Danby unit seem to be working...finally whirlpool and others have failed! I wish I could have the power go on and off and have the unit start as needed with the proper humidity setting and in the run mode. if the power goes off, this wont restart at the previous setting you have to hit start...major flaw but, if the unit works....and stays working that is half the battle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We like it. Seems solid enough after 2+ years We have had this Danby humidifier for almost 2 years now and it gets a workout in our basement almost every day. Everything is still working solidly at this point. When we first started using it I didn't think that it was sensing the actual humidity very well (because the humidity read-out would drop below what we had it set at but it would still be running). So I think that this sensor may not be what I would call "super accurate;" HOWEVER, it is now shutting off and turning back on automatically as we would like to see. That's the only reason for my "4" rating. So far, I like it and would not hesitate to get another. Our last dehumidifier lasted about 6+ years so we'll just have to wait and see. Longevity is my main concern with appliances like this so if I think about it, perhaps I can update this review later and let everyone know how we are doing!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works well I have my dehumidifier in my basement and it does do a very good job. The one thing though I wonder about is why the fan runs so often without the compressor ever kicking in. It just seems to run too often for too long. Other than that it works great it's quiet and effective. I really like the filter system it comes off very easily and very easily cleaned and replaced from the outside.

There are a couple of reasons this could be occurring. 1) There may not be enough humidity in your environment or 2) Your relative humidity set higher than ambient humidity. Please adjust your settings accordingly if this is the case.
We recommend setting your dehumidifier to between 40-50%.
Information pertaining to watts and amps can be found on the rating plate located on the back of the unit.
It is supposed to be there to help determine the water level.
This varies based on model, however most models have been manufactured to have the fan turn off automatically.
This varies based on model. With some models you simply screw the hose onto the outlet on the back of the unit. With other models you have to remove the bucket, feed the hose through the back of the unit and connect to the adaptor above the bucket area, then replace the bucket. It is important to look at your control panel. Some units have a “continuous drain” button on the control panel. If that is the case for your unit, you must press this button after the hose is in place or the function will not work. Please refer to your owner’s manual.
This varies by model, however all dehumidifiers are a one shot timer. Please refer to the owner’s manual for timer instruction.
This will vary based on humidity level. It will pump out the water when it reaches a certain level (pump models only).
