Are you tired of cloudy ice ruining the look and taste of your drinks? Fear not! With proper Danby Countertop Ice Maker maintenance, you can enjoy crystal-clear ice cubes every time. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the essential care and maintenance steps to keep your ice maker in top condition.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

Self Clean Mode:

Before you start using your ice maker for the first time (or after a long time), it’s crucial to run the self-clean mode. This process eliminates any dust or residue from internal components, ensuring your ice stays fresh and clean.

  1. Prepare Cleaning Solution: Mix equal parts of clean, potable water and white vinegar in the ice maker’s reservoir, filling it to the “Max Fill Line.”
  2. Activate Self Clean: While in standby mode, press and hold the power button for 5 seconds until you hear a beep confirming the activation of self-clean mode.
  3. Run Cleaning Cycle: The upper water bucket will fill and empty multiple times as the pump circulates water through the system. This cycle repeats five times to clean the unit thoroughly.
  4. Drain Cleaning Solution: Remove the drain cap and plug to drain the water and vinegar mixture from the ice maker.
  5. Rinse with Water: Refill the reservoir with clean, potable water up to the “Max Fill Line.”
  6. Repeat Self-Clean (Optional): For an extra rinse, press and hold the power button for another 5 seconds to run the self-clean mode again.
  7. Drain Water: Once the cleaning cycles are complete, drain any remaining water from the ice maker.
  8. Air Dry: Leave the lid open to allow the unit to dry completely before using it to make ice. The vinegar smell will dissipate quickly.
  9. Discard First Batches: To ensure no lingering vinegar taste, discard the first few batches of ice produced after cleaning.
Countertop Ice Maker Maintenance

During self-cleaning, if there’s a water shortage, the ice maker will pause until more water is added. If any issues arise during cleaning, such as the bucket failing to turn over, simply deactivate self-clean mode by holding the power button for 5 seconds.

Here are some common issues you might encounter and their solutions:

  • No Power: Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers, and ensure the plug is fully inserted into the outlet.
  • Full Bucket or Low Water Indicator: Empty the ice bucket, refill the water reservoir, and ensure the ice maker is level.
  • Not Making Ice or Poor Performance: Check for blockages, use cold water, and ensure proper ambient temperature.
  • Unusual Noises: Normal gurgling sounds are okay, but grinding noises may indicate obstructions.

By following these maintenance tips and troubleshooting steps, you can keep your Danby Countertop Ice Maker running smoothly and producing perfect ice cubes every time.
