What You Need to Know – Danby’s Freezer

Whether you have a growing family or you want to save money by shopping in bulk, Danby’s freezers are the perfect solution for any lifestyle.

Chest vs. Upright Freezers

Chest Freezers

This traditional style offers more useable space to accommodate large sized items that otherwise might be too tall or wide for upright freezers. These units require more floor space than upright units but in general tend to be more energy efficient.

Upright Freezers

Upright freezers make organizing and finding contents a lot easier with its swing door design and storage capabilities. They also are great for smaller spaces that cannot fit larger chest designs. If space is really tight, Danby also offers upright freezers in compact sizes that are ideal for offices, apartments and many other small spaces.

Frost is not cool: Why it is important to defrost your freezer.

Frost naturally builds up from warm air sneaking in when opening and closing the door. A little frost is normal, but once it exceeds more than 6mm in thickness it could reduce the efficiency of your unit and increase energy costs. Defrosting your freezer is very important and under average conditions you will only need to defrost your freezer once or twice a year.
While most freezers can be defrosted manually, Danby does offer frost-free operations. In these units frost is removed with the help of a cooling coil that periodically warms up enough to melt the frost, where it then flows down to the drain pan to be evaporated.
