Jim believes in doing the right thing by leading a culture that supports philanthropy, volunteerism, and servant leadership.
In November 2015, Estill sponsored the immigration of 58 Syrian families to Guelph, Ontario. In 2021, he sponsored 50 Afghan families, and as of 2025, Estill has sponsored more than 400 people to come to Canada.

Danby’s Commitment To Refugees
In our ongoing commitment to Do The Right Thing, Danby appliances has signed a special agreement with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) which designates us a Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH) which allows us to sponsor named refugees in the Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) program.
How You Can Get Involved
It takes the entire community to build a network of caring and compassion that will provide a sense of welcome and safety for arriving newcomers. Every person in Wellington-Dufferin Region is invited to contribute what they are able. This could be time, encouragement, support, donations, money, cultural awareness, or a friendly smile.
How To Become A Co-Sponsor with Danby
If you would like to co-sponsor with the Danby SAH, we expect a settlement team to be able to be created with 5-9 people with a minimum of 3-7 people living in Guelph (or the city of settlement).
If you are interested in co-sponsoring with Danby SAH, please read through the FAQs and confirm that both you as co-sponsor and the refugee(s) you would like to sponsor, adhere to our 4 Pillars of Sponsorship (in the FAQs), that you have the funds needed, and that you can create a Settlement Team.
NOTE: We have more interested co-sponsors than we have spaces. Being on the waiting list does not guarantee the opportunity to become a co-sponsor.
