Danby 12000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome little unit! My portable Danby A/C unit was a huge life saver this past summer! My condo doesn't have AC nor does it have screen doors at the balcony! There was a huge heat wave that hit Vancouver this past summer and The days it was super hot, we would leave the balcony doors open with a fan at the door, trying to circulate a breeze...brutal. All it did was let flies and butterflies fly in and out when ever they please, at night time bugs would fly in because they were drawn to our was terrible. Then we got our Danby Portable Air Conditioner; this thing allowed us to keep our windows closed AND it cooled our condo down so much that there were days we forgot how hot it was outside! Thanks Darby! I would recommend this product to anyone in-search for a portable AC unit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great cooling system for small spaces... The unit itself was great. It cooled my 550 sq ft place done in the heat of the summer. Easy to use and set up. The only draw back is the hose attachment to the window - the pegs are flimsy and broke off. Not part of the warranty so would have to buy a new part. Something you should add to the warranty.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great air conditioner This unit is wonderful as an air conditioner. Very easy t install and keeps my 300 Sq ft uniisulated living room in my farmhouse very cool. The only thing that would be nice would be to have a built in drip pan for using the dehumidifier. Very happy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Change from AC to Heater to complicated A/C works fine but too much "remodeling" required to set up Heater function. Purchased small heater rather than have hoses running everywhere. Earlier version was much more efficient.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cool Air Conditioner Even with large, south-facing windows that catch lots of sun, our home was almost too cold at times with this air conditioner. A great size, looks nice enough to sit in any room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Air Conditioning at last..!!! We live in a 2 story townhouse with electric baseboard heat. There is an in wall air conditioner located on the upper level. It does not have the capacity to cool the whole house. During the hottest of our seasons, we run the upstairs conditioner, which lowers the temps being cooled by the portable Danby. The Danby does a remarkable job of cooling the rest of the house comfortably.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Portable AC Great cooling for a small unit, portable, easy to set up or move. Love the fact I don't have to keep emptying a bin of water condensate or have it leak all over the carpet.

On most models with heat mode, it is advised to use the hose for direct drain. This will ensure the pan does not fill up too quickly.
Units with three drainage ports are units which also feature heat mode. The bottom drainage port empties the internal pan, the middle port is for continuous drain during heat and the top port is for continuous drain during dry mode. Please consult your owner’s manual for more detail.
The water drains from the drainage port. If you are not using the continuous drain, the internal pan drains from the bottom outlet. Consult your owner’s manual for more information.
During heat mode, dry mode or continuous draining. Please consult your owner’s manuals for more details.
You should always use it during cooling and heating. It is not required during fan and dry mode. Please consult your owner’s manuals for more details.
When selected, this automatically sets the appropriate option for your room based on the ambient temperature. For example, if it is 15°C outside, the unit would flip to fan mode. If it is set to 30°C, the unit would revert back to cooling mode.
Information pertaining to watts and amps can be found on the rating plate located on the back of the unit.
Dual hose models have an intake and exhaust hose. With single hose models, the hose exhausts and the air that is to be “conditioned” is taken in from the room through the unit.
