Danby 9.9 lb Washing Machine is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love this Portable Washer I live in a small one bedroom apartment so this is perfect--I do most of my wash in it then go to laundromat to dry. Yes, I do more loads due to the size but after tracking both hydro & water usage--I'm still saving enough to make it worthwhile. My only complaint is the wheels are not great--really should have larger swivel type casters-I found it hard to pull across a small carpeted area-but, it now sits on an adjustable dolly with 3" swivels & it's no problem to move.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Portable washer I'm using washer for the first time. I wish I could find out what the different functions of the Cycle options are. What is the difference between Auto Wash and Normal? Do they both go through spin cycles? Why is the Delicate Cycle as long as the Heavy Cycle, 41 minutes (you would think that the Delicate cycle is shorter). Why would you need a No Spin cycle? I could not find any information in the "Guide". I gave it two stars for lack of information about usage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little washer. I have had mine now for four years, and I love it. It does the job it was built to do, and does it nicely. As others note, if you fill the tub to its max water level, water does splash from the top of the tub a lot, and drip out from the underside of the machine. 3/4 seems the max fill level to avoid this issue. However, if you must run loads at the max water level, one can just put a towel underneath the machine and the splashing issue is solved. As others note, the fixed casters make the machine rather cumbersome to move from one area to another. I solved that problem using a collapsible two-wheel dolly. It makes moving the machine from storage to a sink a breeze. Others have commented that they don't seem to get the same "clean" as they might from a full-sized machine. I suspect this is many because they over-fill the tub. Laundry must freely "roll" and "tumble" in a washer. If you over-fill the machine, any machine, this won't happen and your clothes won't get clean. I make a point of adding detergent first, then laundry. If clothes are loaded loosely when dry to the 3/4 or full water level, then one can be confident that they will come out clean. Yes, the machine is only 1/2-2/3 the size of a full-sized machine. Therefore any load should be 1/2 or at max 2/3 of what you would put in a full-sized machine. I find two pair of jeans or four bath towels is a full load for this machine at the 3/4 fill level. I can wash a flat and a fitted sheet from a double bed at max fill, and that too is a "full load". I truly love that I can fill this machine with a load and shut it off without the tub draining. I can let laundry loads "soak" for 1/2 to a full hour before running them through. True, being retired, I have the time to do my laundry in this way. Still, most apartment buildings are upgrading their washers and dryers. Laundry loads now cost $2.50 to $3.50 per load depending on water temp selected, and dryer loads now cost from $1.75 to $2.50 depending on air temp selected. At $5-$6 per load to wash and dry, I can take the time to make this machine perform at its best, and let it pay for itself. Would I buy it again? You can bet your detergent pods I would.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this washing machine... Nothing cleans like a machine with an agitator. I think this is the only one on the market that has it. No problems. I just don't use the highest fill option to avoid splashing. Other than that, my clothes, towels, linens are so clean.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Danby Washing machine DWM045wdb not great This machine just spews water. It splashes out from the drum it drips down the back while filling and the garbage outlet hose is leaking after only 6 months. better keep plenty towels on hand to wipe up all the water that comes from this machine.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Limitations It's nice to be able to do some washing for very small loads in an apartment. You can only fill the drum to 1/2 full, or water splashes out onto the floor. Clothes do not get as clean as they do in a full size machine; not sure why, but they don't.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don't buy if you have linoleum floor. Pretty good unit but very poor thought into the mobility of the product for someone who may have to move it back in forth in a kitchen. The small plastic wheels completely carve up a linoleum floor like a hot knife through butter. So much for easy mobility!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A lot of cycles choices and most are useless. I've used this washer for about a year and i see all it's limits. The first problem is it doesn't fill up unless you use the delicate cycle only . The agitator is very rough on clothing and also from time to time with certain fabrics will hurl water right over the side of tub as well that runs down inside the washer cabinet onto the floor. If you use the delicate cycle and press down to a lower water level setting after it's full it will slow down the agitation stroke length . But for the rinses you need to go back to the machine again and press the water level button back to high again so it will be full with water then press it down again if you want a shorter agitation stroke. The Delicate cycle is the only cycle i use that's any good if you want the truth. If you use the Auto wash, Heavy, etc it just will not fill up all the way with water and you're stuck doing a half a load of clothing at a time and it 's beating them to a fuzz ball too . So again if you want it to fill the machine all the way up with water you have to use the Delicate cycle and adjust agitation speed slower after it's full if it's too rough down to a slower stroke by pressing the water level button to a lower setting . The drain hose would be fine if it was about two feet longer . My machine is too wide to get through the bathroom door, so i had to double the drain hose and water inlet hose length so i could use it . The agitator lint filter is a complete joke and a complete waste of effort to have it there. The other manufacturer models that had the mesh filter at the top of the basket where water was burped up through that mesh filter every impeller stoke was 100% better with trapping lint . This Danby agitator lint filter is absolutely ridiculous, and useless. From time to time you will need to unscrew the bolt and lift the agitator out of the machine and remove lint , threads, fibers, and film that collects on many drain holes at the bottom of the tub over time. The machine is very reliable and operates quietly in most operating settings. The lids slams shut if you're not focused on closing it very gently or accidentally bump it , there is no see through window which is terrible and lastly i guess it would be nice to add the super spin at the start of the program instead of having to wait for it to finish first and go back to restart the machine to do the Super Spin . If one can live with those little drawbacks and work around them , then i guess it'll be worth your investment . I know Danby has a new larger impeller model washing machine out now. But not a singe video of it operating so you can view the wash performance i've been able to find ANYWHERE, and i've looked everywhere possible and so far , Nothing !
