Customer Reviews

Danby Designer 8.2 cu. ft. Freezer is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love the size of the freezer It fits well into the space we have in the laundry area of the house we are living in. I can't really fill it full however. The coils in the corners frost up pretty quickly. So I have this great freezer, but cant put much in it. The outside door, at the bottom, came with a dent in it. I contacted the store, took a photo, but never heard anything else. It certainly does not affect the performance of the freezer. Just the fact that it was brand new and came with a dent made me a bit sad. Again, it works fine, I just cant put much into the freezer itself without the coil building up with frost quickly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good freezer for the price We bought this freezer to replace a Danby chest freezer which is still working fine. We found that we lost things at the bottom of the chest freezer and the upright is much easier to fine things. We use this freezer for overflow and veggies from the garden. Once a year we have to empty it to defrost the freezer as the coolant coils are in each shelf unit inside. This gives the freezer the ability to hold a lot more stuff in a small footprint versus a frostless. Going on 2 years and working just fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for our home. Our home is small and only two people. We live a long way from grocery stores and I like to overcook and freeze meals. Fits beautifully in small area and roomy inside. We have a side by side refigerator and this unit gives us the opportunity to expand storage. I love the way it is so airtight. Actually make a compression sound when the door closes. This makes me more comfortable about conserving power usage and holding the cold in during outages.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great but frosty It's great as a second freezer. Does what it should. Quiet. Did not realize it was not frost free until we uncrated and opened it. In this day and age cannot believe there is such a thing as NON frost free. However, our fault for not looking at it close enough before purchasing. Once in the basement I was not taking it out to return it. Would gladly have paid more to have frost free. Other than that it does everything well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from should have bought this freezer 40 years ago Once you have had an upright freezer, you will never go back to a chest style. Easier to find your food because its not buried on the bottom. It holds less but I am not throwing away 5yr old food. Also much easier to open the door to retrieve the food than do a headstand into a chest freezer. It was also easy to put on a dolly andtake downstairs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Upright Freezer What can I say, it seals the door perfectly, the food is frozen. It does ice up, but not badly. It only needs to be de-iced once a year, and we live in a humid environment. So, for the price and performance, this equals a darn good value.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Noisy This freezer has the size and capacity we needed. It however is quite noisy with a sound like coolant gurgling around the tubes. It freezes well but subject to frost buildup. I would be pleased except for the noise.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Freezes your food with ice The stand up freezer is a great idea, space saver but this model is not good for this type of food. Look for a frost free freezer. We do have a chest freezer now for 20 years and it does not do this to our food.
