Description

Dampness in your home isn’t just uncomfortable. It can also be quite damaging and unhealthy. The best way to eliminate unneeded and unwanted moisture from humid air is with a dehumidifier such as this sleek, portable unit from Danby. This potent machine can effectively do away with about 50 pints (23.7 litres) of water from the air every 24 hours. It’s just right for large rooms as well as offices, apartments and condos. Your electricity bills will be kept in check as the unit is Energy Star compliant as well as being environmentally friendly due to its R410A refrigerant. The contemporary electronic controls with LED display make it easy to program the humidity settings and quiet two-speed fan. The smart appliance features a low-temperature component which enables it to run on a continuous basis until the temperature drops to 5°C (41°F). There’s a handy automatic restart device in case of a power failure and the coils are kept free of ice with the automatic de-icing system. Cleaning is effortless due to the removable filter and the intelligent dehumidifier can operate continuously with its direct-drainage system. This model can easily be transported from room to room with its built-in rolling castors and it also features a 24-month warranty on parts and labour with carry-in service.

Customer Reviews

ArcticAire 50 Pint Dehumidifier is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 40.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from works great model #ADR501B- ARCTICAIRE , The first one did not work.. Danby wanted me to take it to a store 30 miles away (to be fixed)... I called Home Depot they said bring it to the store 12 miles away and they would replace it and take 10 % off for my trouble. It worked flawlessly, ran non-stop for 4 days to get the smell and humidity out of the basement, then ran normal after that. As long as it works for more that a few years w/o trouble I'll be happy. To those people that said it was too noisy...it's not meant to be next to you in the room, its almost as loud as an OUTSIDE a/c condenser, therefore having it in the basement or another part of the house should not be a broblem.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don't expect support from manufacturer! Screws to hold drain hose were not included (thought the instructions said they were!) As a matter of principle, I called the manufacturer but the REFUSED to send the correct screws and I had to go to my local store to find ones that would work. Strange that it is always 3 cents worth of plastic that renders an appliance inoperable--or in this case 3 cents worth of meta! Had the company been more accommodating, they would have done much to garner customer loyalty. The dehumidifier works well but why recommend a manufacturer that can't be bothered with customer service?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dehumidifier works great and is more quiet! No issues with this dehumidifier, has been working great in my basement. Also, in comparison to the previous one I owned, this model is much more quiet and as a result more pleasant to have around. Dehumidifiers aren't going to be silent, but if you're looking for a more tolerable one this is a great choice. Filter is easy to remove and clean when needed. Price in comparison to other brands was also good after shopping around. I feel I made a good choice with this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic dehumidifiers For years purchased other brands....they were loud and didn't last a year. Did my homework and decided to purchase (2) Danby's and am so happy with both. One for upstairs and a larger one for the downstairs. Was faced each winter with moisture on inside of windows......no more...run our danby at night when the temps are going to be below 32 deg and no more moisture. This alone makes me happy. Recommended to neighbor and they also purchased Danby. Very happy customers.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from works well This unit works really well. The musty smell from my basement was gone in 2 days. However the hose drain connection is extremely cheap. I't made of plastic instead of brass and it's held on the unit by 2 tiny screws. I tried to hoses and they both leaked at the plastic coupling. If you buy this remember to empty it daily. Also, I saw my electric bill go up by at least $20 a month.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Dehumidifier My dehumidifier in the basement broke. I needed to replace it. Home Depot had this one on sale. It had good reviews, but can you really trust these reviews? I have had it for 6 months now. It is a GREAT dehumidifier. It is extremely quiet. It also does a great job on keeping the basement at the right humidity. I highly recommend this unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Dehumidifier This is by far the best unit for the money! Most units this size can cost well over $200 for the big name brands. I was a little skeptical because I was not familiar with this brand. It is very simple to use, works great, and very quiet. The only surprise was the the side discharge which makes the location of the unit somewhat limited.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best one I've purchased This is my third dehumidifier, which is used continually during the summer (in a basement office). The first two (less expensive) lasted a year each, if that. This one is still working fine (fingers crossed). It was more expensive, but hopefully the adage of "you get what you pay for" is true.

There are a couple of reasons this could be occurring. 1) There may not be enough humidity in your environment or 2) Your relative humidity set higher than ambient humidity. Please adjust your settings accordingly if this is the case.

This varies based on model. With some models you simply screw the hose onto the outlet on the back of the unit. With other models you have to remove the bucket, feed the hose through the back of the unit and connect to the adaptor above the bucket area, then replace the bucket. It is important to look at your control panel. Some units have a “continuous drain” button on the control panel. If that is the case for your unit, you must press this button after the hose is in place or the function will not work. Please refer to your owner’s manual.
This will vary based on humidity level. It will pump out the water when it reaches a certain level (pump models only).
This varies by model, however all dehumidifiers are a one shot timer. Please refer to the owner’s manual for timer instruction.
