Transportation Manager – North America, Guelph, ON

Career summary

Do you have experience developing freight strategy? Do you enjoy the puzzle of optimizing routing, pricing and transportation partners?  Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will compare, award and monitor performance of our ocean, intermodal, and trucking suppliers of North American shipments.

 You will:

  • Reduce freight/shipping costs
  • Improved reliability, on time delivery and reduce shipping damage
  • establish improvement plans for freight management, vendor routing, and carrier management
  • Monitor performance metrics
  • Negotiate with and manage contracts and service level agreements for service providers
  • Conduct profit and loss management
  • Manage temporary storage solutions
  • Define and build a strong and cost effective carrier portfolio
  • Reduce Danby’s carbon footprint
  • Do the right thing for Danby!

You have:

  • Experience using Transportation, Freight Optimization or Other Industry Software
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Proven success in development and implementation for cost-saving measures
  • Puzzle solving panache
  • Capacity to perform analytical functions
  • Thorough knowledge of order to fulfillment process
  • Negotiation and influencing skills

You’ll need:

  • A degree or diploma specializing in Materials Management or Supply Chain Management
  • Minimum 5 years consumer goods, white goods logistics experience, preferably in a multi-site distribution environment
  • MS Office experience
  • ERP system experience or NetSuite is a bonus
